If we were to go someone local I’d throw a bucket load of cash at Adelaide and get Carl Veart.

Sean Dyche is available.
Jesus, I’ve seen some crazy comments here but that’s next level.
Of course we just lost to our biggest rivals so we’re not going to be happy, but almost 100% Talay out is pretty crazy.
Anyone as an interim coach for the season fin. Big name foreign coach next season. If we’re getting a domestic coach, it for sure has to be someone who has won the league now, not Carl fucking Veart.
End of season still more likely.
Supposed if fans get restless enough it can happen earlier.
He has a track record of incorporating the young players into the squad, developing them, having them sold on and repeating the process.
He gets the most out of his older players and just about all of the foreign players he has signed have remained for multiple seasons, see Isaias, Javi Lopez and Zach Clough.
He sounds exactly like the kind of manager that we need here. This is his ALM record (excluding finals):

When has big name foreign coach ever worked in the league?
Pierre Littbarski went alright.
As one of those who switched votes, some of the decisions being made during games in the last couple of rounds have been insane. The mess he made of the backline n the second half, the insistence on Sotirio, the freezing out of Burgess. The longer he’s in the job, the worse choices he seems to be making.
It took Corica years to run out of ideas, erode all cohesion, and have the team looking like they’re just going through the motions each week. Talay has had us there for some time already.
So that vote not surprising and I don’t think it’s reactionary to last night. Been wondering WTF happened to the side that pushed Sanfrecce home and away 3 months ago, our run since the ACL group stage finished has been sobering:
We had no right to get those 2 points against Adelaide and Newcastle. The Machach assisted Melbourne win was way more pragmatic than it was convincing, and the first half against Perth was dogshit and required Lolley to win it all by himself after HT.
The CCM win easily the best performance of the lot though even that required Sega’s late show, finishing off some nice team moves (aka proper fucking football for pretty much the only time in those 10 games).
We’re sliding the wrong way hard and instead of looking like he has answers or that improvements are around the corner he’s actually making us even worse (see Exhibit A, Sotirio getting on before JK twice, while chasing games against packed defences).
If we win the acl2, does ufuk stay on?
For me thats a decent trophy. I think its the only thing that can save him atm.
Sanfrecce was by far the highest scoring J-League team with a middle-of-the-pack amount of possession.
I’m guessing the way the games played out is exactly how they play, and not an indication of us doing as fantastically well as we thought?
You can pinpoint the moment we signed Sotirio.
If we win the ACL2, which would be remarkable to say the least, you’d have to ask whether it was due to some coaching masterclass or just luck.
It doesn’t seem like Uffy has been sacrificing our league (and cup) runs in favour of a tilt at Asia. I could be wrong and he may pull something out of his arse that makes it all make sense in hindsight, but I’m not seeing it.
If we win Asia 2, it’ll be a bloody miracle.
The way the squad is playing at the moment, we’ll be lucky to beat the Thai team H+A.
If we win ACL2 and make finals, I’ll call it a successful season and give Uffy another chance. However, tactically (as other have pointed out) he’s barely making it up as he goes along and signing Sotirio and playing him over the likes of JK is not winning him any friends. I doubt there is a single Sydney fan who looks at Sotirio and thinks: “Yes, a squaddie A-League player who hasn’t played in 2 years through injury is precisely what we need, and he deserves to come off the bemch before JK”
If/when we don’t win Asia, if Talay doesn’t make semis at the bare minimum it’s time for him to go.
I’m firmly in the Talay out camp, have been since Christmas, but I don’t think he should be sacked before seasons end, or until the point where we mathematically cannot make finals.
Silverware should be the benchmark with the budget we have, compared to other teams in the A league.
Nice to have some friends now
I feel it’s most likely we will flame out even more and have a mediocre end to the season.
But I also think
A) there’s a reasonable chance Talay can rescue things
B) I fear there are some bad apples in this squad and frankly an interim option is unlikely to turn them around
So I’ll stick with him for a few rounds yet.
This tells us that, if we want to win things, we need a better coach than either Veart or Talay.
He’s never won anything as a manager and statistically he’s 1/2% better than Talay, why the confidence he would be noticeably better? Plus he has a face like an uncooked pizza.
