It’s a transition session in the fact that we’ve either sold or losing our other best youngsters for free, often because of mismanagement and a lack of playing time.

This club has given up.
No one on this fucking Earth can justify to me how this is the right thing to do. NO ONE.
Transition to NPL2?
I still think it’s weird timing, if true.
Are they hoping for an Arnold situation where a horrible second season was followed by things clicking and then good times aplenty?
Dear Mr Talay. I’m not sure if this is news to you but there are players who score goals and there are players who don’t score goals and it seems that how good the players are who don’t score goals is kinda important. So it would be grouse if you start paying a modicum of attention to them for a change.
Yours,
Phorm
It is very convenient, in a season where we have been:
…to declare now that this has been a transition season and point the finger at blooding youngsters and selling players as the reasons why.
Sure Uffy, don’t take any responsibility yourself, such as the frankly baffling decisions you’ve made this year.
I am not picking up what you’re putting down.
So we signed Douglas Costa and now this is a transition season? That sounds like lie made up to cover the massive underperformance this season.
This is the most shambolic our club has been in a long long time. This fucking sux.
Lolley, Grant, Costa and Caceres are all major parts of our starting eleven too? We haven’t blooded anyone properly other than Kamijo and perhaps Quintal at a push.
I think the club’s position on this is based around the league. It’s in a crap position and easy to be lazy.
A transition season that looks suspiciously similar to last season.
12-5-10 last season
10-7-7 this season with two games to go.
However last season saw a new tactical direction and improvement after a previous decline. However we haven’t really continued that direction and this season has seen stagnation & extremely erratic performance levels. So what’s the transition? Where are we trying to get to? I’d even say that policy of “blooding youngsters” is nonsense.
ZDJ was seemingly only brought into match squads and starting XI’s when we had a crisis in the centre and Grant was moved to centre-half.
Segacic has been in and out and used all over the place, despite performing, and is generally in positions where we recruited internationally (Costa, Ouahim, Lolley, Klimala). Fair enough not many thought he would have the impact he’s had but I’d say it certainly wasn’t the clubs plan either. His performances and goals have been a saving grace of the season rather than an expected progression.
Kucharski’s had half the minutes he had last season. He’s only started three games all season. Funnily enough he’s scored in 2 out of those 3 (1 in the league, 1 in asia). It might look like he’s had a shit season but he’s scored 3 and assisted 1 in under 400 minutes in the league. That’s not blooding a youngster.
Kamijo I’d say is the only one where I maybe see a deliberate blooding of a young player when we had other options for the most part.
Not even going to count Quintals appearances because that’s the minimum that should be expected through a season for a talented prospect. Minutes off the bench and maybe a small number of starts in second tier comps or dead rubber matches.
Now late in the season we’re seeing a back five which we otherwise haven’t played at all or seen in preseason under Talay. Yeah transition…
I smell a lot of bullshit. No one at the start of this season was damping down the talk of how good this squad looked.
So now we have to sack him 3 rounds in next season?
I thought last year was a transition season. Utter bollocks IMO.
Next season will be a transition season as well if we have to get a new manager half way through it
Glorious 5 year plan.
Ufuking kidding me?
I’d like to think that the club have a clause in his extension that stipulates that we still need to make the finals and have a certain amount of points after 3 or 5 rounds next season or a resignation wiill be required. Otherwise, a disapointing extension.
To be honest though - I can see an argument for keeping Talay. I can see an argument for keeping every one of our foreigners (I’d struggle to justify Ouahim, but maybe there’s a plan…).
There is a good team in there if you only make very few tweaks to the roster.
But that’s shit rhetoric from Talay. Even if it’s a kinda out of context quote. Everyone in Australia knew this squad was good enough to win the league. Everyone knew exactly who was likely to leave and who was likely to grow. It all played out very predictably.
Predictable to everyone except Talay apparently. He just didn’t plan for any of it. He failed when we spunked 5 visa spots on positions we best had covered and neglected the places with least. He failed to properly rotate. He failed with more strange signings in January (Sotirio was the last player on Earth we needed). He failed tactically (our late change is absolutely an admission of this).
It’s frustrating.
He’s still in the top 10 chance creators in the league (according to Opta). Only Lolley ahead of him for us but about on par with 3 chances per 90. The main disappointment there in terms of output I’d say is he probably should have a few goals rather than just the one. Has definitely been a poor finishing season.
It’s not that he’s a bad player. We’re just stacked there.
