This was my biggest gripe driving back from holidays from Forster. Was ready to shoot people. The worst was the kid that was driving 90 in the overtaking lane down the freeway. Ended up moving purely because an even crazier guy cut through 3 lanes of traffic to swerve around him and started shaking his arm at him…
On another note, had the most frustrating drive up the coast to start our holiday at the end of last year. Left early on the 27th, assuming most of the traffic would have gone up on xmas day and boxing day. I was an idiot on that one. Took as an hour to hit the freeway from West Ryde. 1.5hrs into that, the youngest wouldn’t go to sleep so had to pull over in an emergency bay so my wife could feed.30 mins after that, another emergency stop so the wife could use the bathroom. Get back in the car before I had to pull over 10 seconds later as I’d left a toy on the roof of the car. 3hrs into the trip, we hit the twin petrol stations, so we had to stop for lunch. Hungry Jacks was so packed and had such a shit system that they ended up completely stopping order 5 mins after we got there.
Get back on the road and a massive hailstorm hits us before Newcastle. Dents in the car, despite the fact that we were sheltering under a bridge. Get through Newcastle and had to do another stop at The Rock so the little one could feed again.
It extended a usual 3hr trip to 7.5hrs…

Cruise control is indeed awesome, as is a speed limiter. I’ve got a 10yo Focus that I bought new to replace a (then) 15 year old Astra, so I’ve no idea if these are now universal (but we don’t have them on our work cars).
I set it for say, 80kmh, and I can accelerate up to that speed and it just tapers the throttle so I don’t go over. If I stomp my foot I can override it and then it just comes back without me needing to do another thing. Lets me drive “eyes up” in traffic without wondering whether I’m speeding.
When on roads like Parramatta Rd or Pennant Hills Rd its just sensational, likewise on highways when you can’t just cruise at the speed limit but you’re working through traffic.

It used to just be used by bigoted pieces of shit whenever there was any representation in media other than straight white blokes. Now its just used by every nonce for “thing i dont like”. It makes zero sense in the context it was used. How the fuck is this “woke”?

Update on rent/board situation, after the agreed to a $30 rise instead of $40, I’ve been less hesitant for asking for repairs on basic wear-and-tear. Had the wonky door handle fixed, the dripping tap changed, had the broken blind changed.
Less hesitant on being a “nuisance” considering I’m paying $30 more a week, and given with all the fallout that was happening, they agreed to ANY SORT of negotiation on the price, they obviously aren’t keen to try and find somebody else. I get a roof over my head and they continue their investment.

Need a new boiler for my flat as the current one is 16 years old and clearly on it’s last legs.
Had someone from British Gas around to quote on it last night and they said because out flat in over 6m from the ground, we need to put scaffolding up, which is massively annoying and costly.
