All things considering they really should be wearing their life jackets. In a war, it’s bomb first, then deny, then apologise, then promise a full internal investigation later.
They’d have to be idiots to hit the ship though. Killing or attacking someone from the French Government would screw them up left right and centre
They’ve turned these kind of boats back before though. It will add a little attention, which is probably the realistic goal here, but they’ll just the usual typical rough handling, but a few levels short of the violence imposed on the locals.
Or they’ll blow the ship up and blame it on a misfired houthi rocket with zero investigation or pushback by anyone.
Also, waving a Palestinian flag in such a situation is probably not wise. Wouldn’t be surprised if someone tries this.
Not with a French MP onboard
Wouldn’t put it past them.
To be fair, at the first hint of trouble the French MP will organize a hasty retreat.
It’s in their DNA.
I’m English, so I’m all for insulting the French, but this particular MP is French-Palestinian, so make of that what you will.
The Madleen, after a short diversion to rescue a boat of Libyan refugees which was sinking, has been intercepted by the Israelis, over 100mn from the coast, well within international waters.
Iran has struck back after Israel’s attacks, causing some hospitalisations. Apparently some of Iran’s nuclear facilities have suffered “contamination”. Israel is denouncing Iran for targeting civilian population centres like Tel Aviv… where the IDF headquarters are located.
Nothing like Israel playing the victim card when they bomb a nuclear fucking facility. There would have been a huge risk of nuclear fallout in a pseudo dirty bomb
Everyone sucks here.
Iran for their usual antisemitic ideological rubbish.
Israel for not caring about international law or civilians or resolving any issues.
America for walking away from the deal made under Obama that seemed to be working to resolve the issue of nuclear development.
Russia for “standing up for the rights of sovereign nations”.
It’s a wild world when Saudi Arabia seems the most rational player involved.
The way i see it, theres only one country in that area thats been systemically destroying an entire nation, ignoring the territorial integrity of its neigbbours amd indiscriminantly bombing anyone that want on the basis of “peace”. Israel has been claiming that Iran has been on the verge of nuclear weapons since the 80s and has used this to justify attacks. Surprise surprise, no nuclear weapons
Not defending Israel but the Iranian regime doesn’t do much to help themselves.
Constantly advocating for the destruction of a nation in your region isn’t really helpful. And there’s a good chance they would’ve developed weapons by now if not for Israel stymying them. In truth it’s hard to know whether they truly are engaging in good faith in talks aimed at preventing them developing nukes, or is it just western propaganda and fear mongering that of course they will/are.
Their rhetoric against Israel could also be seen fairly as them standing up for smaller states as an Islamic leader in the area about Israel’s ongoing efforts to keep them down, which again is somewhat justified.
So messy. And again the west needs to take some blame given how we acted in creating the state of Israel in the first place. Until all these states can simultaneously let the past go, and agree to move forward with a region where you don’t have to be worried your kids are about to be bombed in their sleep, nothing will change. Noone wants to live like that, but to them it’s better then giving up what you’re people are “entitled” to
Did they not just hit Tehran?
The irony of them doing denunciations for any nation after everything they have been doing for close to two years is staggering.
Fixed
I think they generally, from hundreds of kilometres away, managed to do exactly the kind of surgical strike that they have been dismally unable to do a handful of km away in Gaza without taking out various schools, apartment blocks and hospital. A miracle rea;lly.
