I mean I feel like that’s one of those questions that probably shouldn’t be reported in the media… Plus it would be very surprising if at some point between now and the end of that trial, not a single person discussed with her, whether she wanted another trial… I mean come on…
Given the shadiness around the whole trial, I wouldn’t be surprised if it wasn’t asked.
At the end of the day the police/DPP said that they wouldn’t pursue a retrial because they had concerns that she couldn’t handle it. There has been nothing from her side to confirm that either way.
To make that decision you would have to consult with the client though. There would have had to be consultations as the Police are going to want to cover themselves legally.
She’s not a client. Decisions on whether or not to prosecute are entirely in the hands of the DPP. They may or may not consult the complainant/victim. You only have to read a few stories from women who have made complaints to see how fucked up the whole process can be from police through to prosecutors. I could easily believe that she wasn’t consulted. But there’s been no word from either party to indicate if there was or wasn’t consultation.
We’re a joke of a country at times.
Expose war crimes by our armed forces? Prosecuted.
Expose espionage by our government against a friendly neighbour purely motivated by greed? Prosecuted and more.
Hilariously though:
The ACT Supreme Court heard he was concerned about “excessive” investigations of troops’ alleged misconduct in Afghanistan
Whilst they’ve got him, they should try him for ruining the Balmain Tigers in the early 90s as well. Probably more egregious than any alleged kiddy fiddling.
