It's OK to be White and other dogwhistles - the Australian politics thread

Sincerely wanted her on the team = indefinitely suspending her from Caucus

Yep that all adds up

I think heā€™s saying the ALP right faction wanted her gone and outvoted the left, as well as doing the white-anting and shunning. Most of the candidates likely to suffer a backlash in their electorate are from the left after all.

But hey, only the Greens do childish stuff in parliament, so that canā€™t be right.

Thereā€™s talk now that sheā€™s ineligible for Parliament in the first place as technically a duel citizen. Although the reason behind that is that, when approaching the Afghan Consulate, they said they couldnā€™t do so due to the fact that theyā€™d lost all contact with the Afghan government. Labor reportedly checked with legal experts and were happy that sheā€™d made all attempts to renounce her citizenship (something I agree with here).

But yeah, itā€™s the fault of the Greens and those conniving Muslims that sheā€™s leaving a party that really truly wants her.

But isnā€™t it labour that is now bringing it up?

Im assuming itā€™s just the handful of hardcore Labor members that are trying to save the partyā€™s reputation and probably donā€™t have the knowledge or even brains to jump onto Wikiā€¦

Talk, you say. From where, I wonderā€¦

Hey, weā€™re a team, you gotta play with the team, oh youā€™re not gonna play with us anymore? All good, but also, youā€™re disqualified from this sport for life haha.

Labor Right is such an oxymoron.

My grandfather is racist, mysogynistic, homophobic, etc all that good 90yo stuff, so when was young I always assumed heā€™d vote for the Liberal party or One Nation.

Nope. Turned out he was a big union man, organiser, senior freemason, the whole bit and, consequently, staunch Labor voter.

Labor movements are good at being racist.

They took our jerbs.

From an economic POV, the Labor right is an oxymoron.

Also, I feel itā€™s a good time to point out that Santamaria was a dick.

Thatā€™s a name from the past. I remember he had some ā€œchatā€ show super early in the morning that I would catch snippets of as I was getting ready to head to Bondi Icebergs to swim with my Dad.

The worst faction of any party in this country. Pack of cunts.

This whole episode has been a great window into all the worst parts of Australian politics. Naval gazing within, shocking lack of nous in terms of media coverage, and petulance en masse when things donā€™t go in oneā€™s favour.

Thereā€™s been more nuance in the discussions in this thread than there has been in large swathes of the common media.

Nuance from any mainstream media outlet when it comes to issues regarding foreign policy or international relations has never been a thing.

The Tenacious D concert in Newcastle tonight being postponed because they said some bad words about Trump, and the calls to have them deported, is absolutely insane. Weak as piss, itā€™s a rock concert, worse shit used to happen all the time.

Funny how quick the right want to cancel people, itā€™s almost part of their culture, some sort of cancelā€¦culture.

His comment clearly did not meet Newcastleā€™s community guidelines.

Wow the tide really is turning, now the right starting to cancel people for the first time since cancelling people became a thing (late 2010s?)
