Malaysia, Bust or Busted? - The A-League where are they now thread

In positive news, we still have hope. (and memes :face_with_peeking_eye: )

well that was a let down

I choose to start the crying … now.

Cork City fans still pining for Roy

Bit of a bump, but he lasted 8 games.

Won 6, drew 2, lost 0.

He was then promptly sacked as the technical director had an issue with him not being Spanish enough.

Maybe he couldn’t do Spanish. But I hear he had no problem doing Colombian.

Nice piece about an A-league success story

That was a loan though no?

Went down a Wiki hole just then and realised Daniel Penha is again on loan, this time to Nacional in Portugal. They were promoted to the top flight for this season and are currently second last on the table. Penha has 6 league appearances and a goal so far.

Graham Dorrans continuing the slide further into mediocrity even in retirement.

To be fair that’s a cracking concept for a Masters tourney though, small pitch and indoor arena. I have the vaguest recollection of the old (pre-EPL) First Division running something similar mid-season back in the day, before injuries and player loads were a thing.

Lesson # 1, fly in two footed and then flop around like Raygun trying to avoid a card.

Jesus you forget how bad a commentator Robbie Slater was.

“over enthusiastic”

Even many of the overseas posters commented how wrong Slater was for his “analysis”. They will never know how lucky they are to only hear about a minute of his genius.

 Ogmonster helpfully pointing in the direction of the sheds to poor Besart who was clearly concussed.

What I wouldn’t give to have a take no prisoners, tough as CB like Ognevovski again.
Forever etched in our mind for getting angry at (future snake) Vedran for helping a Wanderer with cramp

Adrian Mariappa is still kicking around the lower leagues after escaping Macarthur. He’s on Optus right now, turning out in the FA Cup for the mighty Wealdstone (coached by ex-EPL player and scorer of the odd belter Matty Taylor) at home to Wycombe.

Wealdstone you say? Home of the Wealdstone Raider!

Didn’t see him trying to start the Wycombe end on the broadcast which was disappointing.

Entertaining enough game considering the level, Wealdstone are non-league (20/24 and just above the relegation zone in the National League), Wycombe are top of League One but I understand put out an entirely reserve XI for the Cup.

Finished 2-0 Wycombe, highlights are mental, and the first goal was an absolute screamer. As good a free kick as you’ll ever see, top bins.
