The scarf for new members this year was really nice. My wife’s has CHAMPIONS on both sides nice navy and white stripes on each end and a really nice, sewn in club badge on each end. Good thickness too. Jealous.
They’re really good if you are bringing casual fans along, so they can look the part.
No beer?
I’ve donated to a part-timer or immediately chucked out every members hat or scarf ever received. They’re never much chop (understandable, not complaining) so always saw them as a bit of a waste.
Been banging on for years about getting sky blue poncho’s, understand the reasoning behind members caps especially for kids being a summer sport and all, but the poncho’s are going to be super handy and hopefully result in substantially more bums on seats at rain affected games. Happy with my pack (even though there was no beer) so huge props to the club.

I wear the hats cause hilly wears hats.
I’ve never lived anywhere to justify a scarf for other than the look.
I own shit loads of decent wet weather gear. A plastic poncho is just not going to get a look in.
I’m looking forward to my coins. And I never joined the club for free stuff anyhows and appreciate everything Shane and co does.

Excellent work with this season memberships, really great looking presentation.
The poncho will never come out of the bag for me, but I can appreciate it is useful for plenty of others.
Honestly, most of the shit in the member packs ends up getting donated or in the bin for me. Just send me my card and a letter telling me i’m a legend for being a member and that’s all i need.

Agreed. There really needs to be an opt out option so you just get sent your membership card.
This is a good idea. The only thing is that you don’t know in advance what the club are planning, so there may be a a year that you realise you would have really liked the thing that they included, but had opted out.
Yeah the only thing that i use is the fridge magnet. Even the coins, while cool, would eventually end up in the bin. I’m just not into collectable stuff really at all. I’d get on board with a more expensive member pack with a jersey included though.

I can’t help but feel it’s all such a huge waste really. So much unecessary packaging, the plastic poncho that 80% of people won’t use and those that do will wear for 90min before discarding in the bin where it will enviably end up around a turtles neck in the ocean somewhere.
Apparently WSW sent their members a key they can get cut - far more practical, you’d use it everyday vs a 50c poncho that looks hideous. I do realise the difficulty in trying to please everyone with a membership pack. It’s good the hats haven’t come back this year - literally nobody wears them. Again a huge waste.
Also, why can’t we just have a digital membership, rather than 10,000 plastic cards being printed for everyone? Or at the very least, opt-in if you really want one?
