Round 14 - Melbourne vs Sydney FC - 26/01/23

Rodwell injured, surely not!

At this stage, should we lose, there can’t be any claims as to not having players. Relying on a single defender to be the cornerstone of the team would be an absolute joke

But you know, like, you know, He did score, and we didn’t score.

If is a great poem, not a great football game.

Is Adrian Vlastelica still a part of the team? Or has he returned to Sydney facist cunts FC.

Outs is missing Kucharski?

Would really like to see Parsons get some time. He must be deeply regretting having left BR where he was really showing some promise. Waste of a season for him really.

Yeah, wouldn’t be surprised if we get mutual with him at seasons end, if not this window. Doesn’t appear he’ll be getting another look-in under Corica.

I can understand that kind of signing where (a) we need depth, (b) we don’t have anyone standing out at academy NPL level. O’Toole behind King/Caballo for example (I’m taking it on faith that O’Toole is indeed a better option than any of our senior academy kids).

But this year our nominal first-choice front-three is Mak-ALF-Lolley, we’ve got Burgess on the bench, and we’ve got three strong kids in Wood, Kucharski and Segečić needing game time.

Parsons never made sense and was a complete waste of cap space. Even if he’s marginally better than our kids right now, he’s 3-5 years older and not eligible for Home-Grown Player Allowance if he did work out.

Just received this email:

Dear Ticket Holder,

As a result of the sanctions handed down by Football Australia (FA) on Tuesday 10 January, new ticketing arrangements have been made for the Melbourne Victory FC home game on Thursday 26 January.

The ticket(s) you have purchased will be re-issued, as per the FA sanctions. You will receive your new tickets shortly.

If you are unhappy with your new ticketing arrangements, you can contact Ticketek Customer Service to have the tickets refunded.

Previously I had tickets in row C section 11, now moved to row V section 12.

Not sure why, but my guess is they are required to tarp off the first few rows of the away bays as well?

(Only purchased last week)

Thought he got released then we picked him up

More like Jack Notwell.

It is really weird that Kucharski isn’t listed in the squad at all. I wonder if he’s got an opportunity to train somewhere?

Not that it really matters but does anyone know what Rodwell is injured with now?

Or how long he’s going to be out for.

I care not for his contribution to the overall on-field performances, I only care about the race to 828.

Jack Fraudwell, amirite?

Nothing has been confirmed by the club, other than Corica saying he was going to have scans when he missed the Perth game. Finally gets through his first 90 minutes, seemingly flew to Perth with the squad, then has missed the following 3 games (and then some). Must’ve pulled a hammy reaching for the overhead compartment.

He was an injury replacement for Wilkinson, so I assume he’d have to be released now that Wilko is back? Although there have been exceptions to this before, and he was listed as ā€œnot selectedā€ on the weekend, rather than ā€œreleasedā€. It was announced as a three-month contract in early November, so he would have another week or two on that.

It sounded more like speculation than anything confirmed but FWIW the commentator for the WU game said a couple of times that it was a recurrence of the groin issue

Bit harsh on the language there. I don’t bear him any particular grudge. He’s just trying to make his living and earn a quid with a body which struggles to meet the demands of his profession. It’s on the stupidity of the decision makers at our club to make him a key, highly paid component of our rebuild.

I mean they only had the example of him in this very city last season, and a high profile documentary on Netflix to help guide their decision.

The theory must have been that he’d already done his year adapting to the harsh pitches etc which often take a toll on these pissweak European lads. They just didn’t take into account the decade prior (or the fact he was much better at DM than CB for Wests).

Well given an entire career getting used to the pitches in England didn’t help him with that, I can only admire ou r optimistic outlook!

I think it might also be partially mental now, years of injuries any twinge he feels must just be an oh no moment for him so he doesn’t think he can play through minor things

Yes stupid of us to sign him but you have to feel a bit sorry for him
