I love these Friday night games. It’s like ripping off a bandaid, get the pain out of the way real quick and get on with the rest of the weekend!

Sounds a bit radical.
If Corica was certain this was the way, and was going to give him an extended run there, then I’d support it.
If it’s stop-gap until Rodwell returns from injury, then I reckon it’s tricky.
I’ve come to have a similar mindset. When we suck I can also sort of sit back and enjoy the league from a more neutral relaxed neutral point of view rather than stress too much.
That said I haven’t given up on us completely yet…
Nice change of pace form being ruined on a Saturday.
But he is a DM.
With Joel King back there’s no excuses for Corica to keep using him as a CB. He’s got a left sided CB that he signed and a young CB in Aaron Gurd who he has kept on as 4th choice.
If he plays JGR at CB tomorrow with King available (pending fitness) then I’d be very much inclined to seek VIP membership of the Corica Out club. You’d be hard pressed to find an argument against him being able to deviate from a plan.
centre quarter?
Just win the games against the victims and Melbourne.
i dont get it. His left back is back so that’s an obvious replacement. JGR is injury cover for the CB position so very likely he’ll continue to do so. Otherwise he would have played Gurd in the first place
I don’t think JGR at CB has anything to do with Joel King, so get your application form ready, I guess.
Wasn’t JCP signed as a CB cover as well? We know corica doesn’t have faith in Gurd at the moment but putting JCP in there cannot go any worse than it has for the first two rounds.
May not be the worst thing. JCP obviously isn’t the best left back when he’s required to push forward and cover the back in Grant style. He’s constantly being caught out. Playing in the centre may limit where he can move around. He’s obviously highly rated (in theory) so there must be some positivity to his defensive skills.
Just repeating the same thing, with the same XI isn’t going to help anyone… something needs to change and this allows us to move JCR next to Bratten, Caceras futher forward and have Max coming off the bench
One of the arguments though, is that JCP was constantly being caught out of position on the left. Putting the CBs under massive pressure. Throw in the fact that Grant doesn’t have that pace anymore, we often found the two CBs stalling while Grant and JCP struggled to get back into position last second. With King back on the left, you at least have experience and a bit less pressure, especially with us going down the right
Isn’t it bad luck to play two left footed CBs?
Can our luck get any worse?
I think we’re also putting a lot of faith in King, whom most of us thought should be playing second fiddle behind Adamson…. I think until we get Rodwell back, we’ll struggle. Both King and Grant are getting skinned regularly and not fast enough to recover, so Rodwell is needed to direct the centre backs to cover - Lacerda might be able to fill that role eventually, but not right now, especially if he’s having to direct a couple of youngsters, new club, language, etc.
I agree we’ve looked better balanced with two sixes and Cáceres playing a proper 10, with the e option to bring on Burgess
I never considered King being second fiddle to Adamson?
Adamson played well on the right and the single game on the left during the Australian Cup, granted, but the team in general looked significantly better in the Australian Cup than what it does now. I’m almost wondering whether the other A-League teams were simply not taking it seriously compared to us, making us look way better than what we are
I think you’re better off with a back four of King-JGR-Lacerda-Grant simply because that’s had the most pre-season minutes. Lack of stability in the back four, particularly CB duo, has been our problem since McGowan left.
Is King going to be fit to start?
Having meditated on it for 24hrs:
I reckon get JGR in the midfield. The upside outweighs the downside of disrupting the back line.
