Hes got a hyper extendable elbow which makes the action look a bit different but its not chucking

Wasting a summer with Smith as opener if he wasnt going to open here was such bad management. Someone could have come in and got some runs last summer and been better prepared for this (of course prepared or not youre still facing Bumrah). Wonder what would have happened if Green was fit.

There’s big problems all through the order. Both Smith and Manus are there on reputation at this point. Manus in particular making such hard work of it at the moment.
This is peak seam bowling. They’re be doing this to any batting line-up in history.
Maybe, but Smith, Manus and Head have been poor for 18 months. Add a debutant opener and you’ve got a recipe for this.

I thought it was not very good game management from Khawaja as the senior player, pushing a single from the first ball of three overs and making the debutant take all the work right away.
They have to drop Manus.
I dont agree with this. No point shielding the guy, he’s been trusted as our opener. Either hes good enough or he isnt, as it happens he did about as well as anyone else.
Plus, against a bowling attack like this you cant go passing runs up

Harris, Cartwright and Handscomb seem to be viewed in the past. Konstas and Davies should get there soon enough but only have 20 or so FC games between them. Everyone elseis average mid 30s.
Maybe it’s time we start teaching the young kids there’s more than 120 balls in an innings?
