Exactly, all these things add up and provide the A-League with exposure over time, no our crowds aren’t going to increase right after the Supercup but seeds get planted in people that otherwise would have paid zero attention to the league.

It’s purely a money-making exercise for the promoters.
Honestly it’s embarrassing that the club feels the need to whore itself out every few years.
In terms of the media coverage, that’s nonsense also.
It’s the absolute epitome of a sugar hit. Once the big European sides piss off the media goes back to not giving a shit about Australian football.

Sure, it’s a nice bump, but Traktor is still funding the club is he not? I mean Barlow runs it but it’s his father in law who bankrolls the whole thing.
No one should forget the roll these games play in selling team and club sponsorships either. If we don’t play them another team will. So another team gets that coverage and another teams sponsors get that exposure.

I’m happy that our club can get some exposure playing a decent side like Celtic and i hope our boys are serious on the night.
In the end i think it’s a win for us if we can pack out the sfs.
It’ll look great if our supporters turn up to this one.
I just cant wait for all the blow in event goers to start making paper aero planes out of the match day programs and cheer when they make it on the field as they have never seen 2 euro teams go at it and will be bored shitless by the 58th minute.

RANGERS ANNOUNCE WITHDRAWAL FROM SYDNEY SUPER CUP
Scottish football club Rangers FC today announced the Club will not be participating in the Sydney Super Cup in November.
In a statement, TEG Sport and Left Field Live, the co-promoters of the Sydney Super Cup, said: “We were disappointed to wake up this morning to Rangers FC’s statement that it will not be participating in the Sydney Super Cup.
“The Rangers Board committed to these matches following extensive negotiations over eight months. Seemingly in response to negative fan reaction, they have pulled out of their contracted commitment.
“We have worked closely with all stakeholders to bring this exciting event to Sydney and we refute any suggestion that we were unwilling to fulfil our commitments to Rangers. We have acted in good faith and have put the event on sale with a great response from fans here.
“In changing their minds, the Rangers Board has let down many, many fans in Australia and the Asian region. We will now consult with our stakeholders before determining our response.”
Can’t the promoters just bring Partizan Belgrade and Crvena Zvezda Belgrade out instead?
