Reports that Red Bull will be announcing Newy’s departure during the Miami F1.
Other reports indicate that Mercedes have offered Verstappen €150m a year, more than double what he’s currently on.
That’s a lot of words to say “Gardening Leave”.

I guess he’ll be going to Ferrari now? The RB17 project is due to be completed this year, so not sure how much there is left for him to do… Gardening Leave indeed.
Audi is another option. If Audi are all in on their F1 project, it would make absolute sense for them to go all in for him.
Newey would no doubt be an asset to any team,
But as we saw from 2014-2020, aero alone cannot overcome an inferior engine.
He’ll be too late to make a major influence in 2025 for a new team, and I suspect 2026 onwards will be a crapshoot in terms of engines more than aero.
RB in particular could go backwards with the new Ford/ RB engine.
He can’t work on any 2026 car in 2025. He’s already pretty much designed the 2025 car, they’re hardly going to change much on the version they’ve got now. Red Bull are just getting him away from the designs for their 2026 car. He will still be employed by Red Bull next year though.
No doubt he’ll be sitting in his home office drawing up 2026 designs that he’ll take to whatever team he goes to.
huh? Why can’t he work on any 2026 car next year? Granted the basic designs will be in already, but he can very much still play around with the designs and then the upgrade packages.
The post by Red Bull clearly states he’s leaving the team in the first quarter of 2025. It’s a fairly broadly worded one as well, does that mean the start of the first quarter or right at the end? Would make a huge difference to any F1 team that’s interested in his work.
He’s leaving the organisation in early 2025. That means he would get some chance to work on someone’s 2026 car.
Sorry, I was meant to say he can’t work on any 2025, not 2026, car in 2025.
As I said though, it’s just a move by Red Bull to get him away from their 2026 plans. He’ll be working on something for 2026 in his own time though.
Pretty sure if they sling him a login under the name Guy Incognito he will be able to work on the design from the comfort of his own home without anyone the wiser.

You know, I get it when they fuck up with which camera to use in live coverage but to put the wrong camera in the highlight package is fucking annoying.
When did they decide it’s better to watch an overtake from the onboard instead of the regular camera?
