Careful. I was averaging two pieces of Famichiki a day during my first couple of trips. No regrets though.
I was a little more restrained on my last trip… just.
There could be a whole thread on Dosa as well. One of my favourite meals.
I haven’t had the chicken, but the Aussie burger from Charlie’s is better than everything else from the others
Do they just not eat chicken in Cronulla? What goes on down there, I never venture that far.
Well they sure as shit don’t like kebabs.
El Jannah is garbage now.
Had I binged on them throughout the early-mid 10s.
My substitute in Hawa has also gone downhill
El jannah has been selling inferior birds for a decade. I had been eating hawa since but recently found that their standard had dropped too. At least they haven’t stooped as low as serving up pre-packaged salads and dips.
My local cafe does a chicken, cheese and bacon burger (obviously also comes with lettuce but nothing else).
There’s a choice of sauces but trust me, go with sriracha.
$2.50 chips, gravy and chicken salt with a can of Passiona and you’re getting the best chicken burger you’ve ever had for $17.50.
Going to Liberty Hall tomorrow. Is the chicken/burgers at Mary’s any good?
Dunno about chicken but the beef burgers are good
Frangos is opening in Cammeray.
Condolences to the locals.
Frangos moving into Caringbah (where the awful Mavericks chicken was).
I must admit, the Frangos v El Jannah expansion war must make the APL jealous.
El Jannah will be the first of these two on the Central Coast. Opening up on the straight between Tuggerah and Wyong.
I’m sure OG El Jannah is/was awesome but the one at Penrith is disgracefully bad. I could do a better job and I’m not a cook by any means. I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if all of the other franchises are the same “quality”.
The OG is just as bad. Went commercial and now their garlic sauce is just aoili. Not worth it
Unfortunately, El Janneh has fallen victim to the hype of its own success.
I believe the original owners sold the business, and the “new” owners have embarked on this franchise journey. Standards have clearly not just slipped, but plummeted. They’ve expanded as far south as Australia’s Shameistan, and from reports despite people down there initially loving it, it’s far from what it once was. From most products if not all (with the exception of the chicken) being made off-site at a centralised location, to the actual spices on the chicken changing. They’ve also expanded their range to include fried chicken, which was a move not needed.
I was extremely underwhelmed last time I had El Jannah, and that was at the Gregory Hills location, almost a year ago. Almost as underwhelming as watching Ufuk Talay at our helm.
Sadly, it looks like they haven’t just cut corners, but gone down the route of corporate greed, probably trying too hard to compete with the the Seppos franchises.
