Only about 10kms each way. Not a terrible ride. Mind you, I’m assuming this is in the early naughties and bike infrastructure was non-existent in the area.
It’s probably marginally better nowadays,.

It was fine. I used to ride to work at Sydney Children’s (Randwick) from top end of King Street Newtown. That had a few pinch points.
I imagine riding home from the stadium would be akin to the time I rode 100km around Brisbane with a mate to numerous breweries. Starting at 10am and finishing around 8pm, only to realise we only had a front light and a rear light between the two of us. I had the front light, and had no idea where I was going so I had to hope he called a left or right turn with enough warning to avoid a sharp turn / crash.
Also got abused by a redneck at a bottleshop buying rum on the way (gay cunt wearing lycra, where’s your boyfriend, etc), only for him to be quite impressed by the fact that a) we rode 100km b) we were absolutely belted, and c) we were buying more booze.
I’ve raised with the club and the stadium, the best option is Moore Park Rd, and then Driver Ave. It grates on me that the stadium refers to active transport being encouraged, but such poor infrastructure. For WWC they had a couple of staff who managed a kind of ‘cloakroom’ for oversized items like prams and bikes that was a good service - I’ve asked the club to consider bringing that back because it was a solution that seemed to work, at least from my experience of it
I’ve written to venues nsw and the minister and just got a cop-out reply from the former. If more people could write in that would be good.
FWIW City of Sydney also hate the cycleway being closed but it’s not their decision. It seems to be the state govt / transport dept.
Is that confirmed? I would have thought it was based on NSW Police and traffic control plans? If they’re treating bikes in the same way as vehicles, I could see why there would be issues with letting bikes get close to the stadium in shared spaces I guess
If only there was some kind of non-shared option like I dunno a pre-existing separated cycleway that bikes could ride on!!!
Would you pay a nominal fee for a lockup service in the Stadium precinct?
For bikes or nefarious activities?
It’s you, you already know the answer to that one mate.
This is near Gate 8 (the special gate on the lower level between Gates 1 and 2)
Sign says SCOS Bike Shed, always seems to be open.
Presumably you’d need to be a member of that obnoxiousness to use it?
Allianz Stadium Rugby League experience.
“Sokkah fans disguised in rugby league gear infiltrate family friendly NRL match to finish what they started at the recent violent Sydney derby brawl”.
I’m surprised the Roosters didn’t claim that as a 4,000 person brawl - I guess their crowd counters had gone home already…
Over 37000 at the game.
Cool story bro…
Look, you can talk shit about Roosters’ crowds the rest of the time but the games they host against the Rabbitohs and St George on ANZAC Day are guaranteed bumpers.
You can debate in the thread what the percentage breakdown of the respectative fans is. If anything, 37k is a bit slight, probably because it was after work for lots.
I speak as a true NRL neutral who used to work the SFS.
