The travelling circus: stadia discussion

The rice from Noodles and Dumplings was solid, but hasn’t been open on the west side all season.

Why do there seem to be more open food options on the empty east side?

I’d be happy with just a hotdog if it wasn’t 10+ bucks.

After eating at Jimmys falafel on George street, and being horrifically underwhelmed and $250 lighter i wouldn’t subject myself to it at the stadium

I don’t go to the football for fancy food.

I go to the football to watch football. If I’m a little drunk I satisfy with traditional football fare. Hot chips, hot dogs, 4&20 meat pies. Shame you can’t get a chiko roll at the ground nowadays.

I’ll eat at a pub pre or post game. I feel bad about spending $50 on beers. It’s why now I smuggle a flask of whiskey into the ground and buy a $5.50 coke to mix it with.

At the Melbourne game, our boy brought along his new GF, and she brought a cooler bag of a few little leftover cardboard Xmas charcuterie boxes containing hams, cheeses, crackers, fruit and chockies. That was a revelation. Saved us over a hundred $$ at Erciyes on the way out too, as we’d all had a nice feed much better than stadium crud already.

The best bit is that I was delicately balancing some prosciutto and brie on a cracker when we scored our second, so I had to gently put it down, belatedly stand up and do an awkward half arsed celebration before sitting again to finish my treat. That’s how we roll in bay 224, kids.

Anyhow, I had always assumed one wouldn’t be allowed to bring such delicacies into the stadium under the guise of some health and safety bollocks but really to protect the catering monopoly. However it is not a problem. It’s just drinks that can cause an issue.

I havent seen that guy since COVID

god I remember the one outside Leichardt. Couldn’t shit properly for days afterwards. My FIL was the smart one, went and had about 4 shots of vodka after having one and was right as rain…

Yeah. I saw him in Gosford once yelling his “Hotdog! Hotdog! Sausage on a roll!” on the walk back up to the station.

That guy used to push that cart from Central, up Devonshire Street to his spot.

It’s generally the same as everything else in the world. Add a bell &/or whistle to justify the stupid prices, whether it’s needed or appropriate doesn’t matter.

They literally did that in the clubhouse last season because of all the complaints about only being able to get chicken up there (not even a chicken burger - just tenders!).

I don’t mind the chicken burgers, gets a bit repetitive but it’s consistent. Keen to try that salsipao though!

You mean the Sydney version of CMOT Dibbler?

They’ve removed the tenders now too. I would take them over the chicken burgers any day - awful

You’re allowed to bring home prepared food, but aren’t permitted to bring in fast food bought outside the stadium.

The “hot” part of that description is highly debatable.

Big news, it turns out the bar behind the away end has Mountain Culture’s Status Quo on tap.

Yep, had a couple of those a few rounds ago. Crazy to get such good beer in a stadium. Such a contrast to the Great Northern mid strength at parramatta.
