It’s just wonderful
It’s just wonderful
She genuinely had the shit shaving to wear that medieval helmet for so long. I hadn’t heard of her before, and she didn’t really give off comedian vibes
Was planning on pacing myself with Kaos, but almost stayed up all night was so good
Yeah same here, watched it almost straight through.
I really like it (up to ep 3) but i feel something is off with how the gods are portrayed. Apart from Goldblum as Zeus the rest are a bit lacklustre.
I think it’s pretty shit. There’s nothing new here that wasn’t done infinitely better in Small Gods and the world they inhabit, where gods are worshipped and sacrificed to, is really badly defined, with no explanation of the relationship between worship and the gods other than impacting their moods.
I gave up after three episodes.
Brassic, on the other hand, is hilarious and clever.
Small Gods the book? I didn’t think they’d done a show. Though I’d kill for one
I’ll admit I wasn’t considering it as hard as that, mainly just found it really good fun
Sorry, American Gods.
Oh yeah I thought kaos was a solid American gods lite.
Didn’t take it too seriously.
I had the “Chaser” on in the background earlier. There was a question about the Star Trek series. Apparently the phrase “Beam me up Scotty” was never said. Anyway some random bollocks I didn’t know
Anybody check out the dumpster fire that was The Acolyte?
Theres been a bit of buzz about the fact it was cancelled immediately by Disney after getting the lowest ratings & reviews in the history of Star Wars, but those attached to the show are saying the cancellation was due to bigotry & racism not the fact the show was objectively a terrible failure on many levels.
No matter on what side of the culture war you stand it can’t be denied that it was complete garbage that was poorly conceived, written and acted. Some of the hilarity included:
40+ years of Star Wars history retconned
The Jedi are the bad guys
Aliens & droids given LGBT pronouns
Fires burning in the vacuum of space
Obese jedi
Apprentices with almost no training routinely killing jedi masters
Every major character purposely cast as either female, LGBT and/or POC
White guys purposely cast only as criminals, idiots and/or cowards
Flammable stone
I started watching out of morbid curiosity and it ended up being unintentional comedy
I just watched a couple of videos from critical drinker and others and couldn’t believe what I was watching.
Almost as bad as rings of power.
This review has now made me want to watch it
I didn’t bother because it looked (visually) like shit. Disney have to remember you can make things without green screens and THE VOLUME.
I like Alien Romulus a lot, and partially because they used real sets and practical effects as much as they could. New star wars just looks terrible.
The best way to watch is definitely watch the episode review from Jeremy Jahns or Critical Drinker first before watching each Acolyte episode so you don’t miss any of the LOLs
The Acolyte just seemed like a bad excuse to try and flog Disney’s High Republic concept. I know they can’t go with the Skywalker saga forever but it seems like ill-conceived garbage. They should’ve gone and done the KOTOR era with actually interesting characters like Revan, Malak, Kreia, etc. That is an era where the Jedi Council is also morally questionable, but that aspect is done properly.
I’m also glad Disney didn’t touch it, as I’m sure they would’ve found a way to screw it up somehow.
The smart way would have been to actually hash out a proper post Rebellion storyline, rather than just cobbling together 3 absolutely shit movies that relied on nostalgia rather than actual good story telling. It’s really not that hard, considering the hundreds of books and comics that were written about that exact period of time. It really shouldn’t take a genius to see that whatever the writers like Timothy Zhan and co were doing, resonated quite well with the target audience. Even for simple series and spinoffs, the following storylines from Legends would easily be a hit:
I’m not saying to copy it exactly, but versions of these would go down pretty well. Rogue Squadron could literally be stylized as a Band of Brothers type of series. Thrawn could look at it from the point of view of the Empire and Jedi Academy gives you Jedi, without being tied down with the rest.
And we’d have Mara Jade
Rebels and Ashoka take a lot of elements from the Thrawn books. I think the future of Star Wars was meant to be built around Ashoka and the shows along side that (Mando + Bobba), but Ashoka didnt do as well as they had hoped, and didnt make the jump from animation to live action that well.
The Acolyte was the show i as most excited for, but I had been reading a lot of negativity about the show months before it even aired. Unfortunately watching it only confirmed those fears.
Star Wars badly needs to get away from the Skywalker era. I think the origens of the force, jedi vs sith wars should all be explored in more detail. Although Luke setting up his academy with Ben would be interesting.
However, the only other new show coming up is Skelton Crew, another shot set between episode 6 and 7.
Bit late to the party but I just saw the trailer for the Aussie version of the Office. Save me jeebus.
