The weather thread: smalltalk edition

So this is the spill way at Chifley Dam just before 10am.

The 86mm we got last night is apparently the heaviest rain in about 25 years here. The river is at 6.28m in town. The levee breaks at about 6.9m I think.

The water is apparently falling. We get more rain thou …

Did you see the video of Wyangala? Insane amount of water

The weather station at Bathurst airport looks to be broken.

Now I don’t know how much to complain about this fucking weather.

My old man was up at Wyangala a couple of weeks before this and he said the level dropped by a couple of metres just while he was there because they were letting water out from the last lot they’d had.

Crazy to think that it wasn’t so long ago that it was down to single digit capacity right?

It’s mad.

When the dam filled here it went from about 60% to 103% in a matter of days. And it hadn’t even rained that much. That was my introduction to the saturation of water tables. Not something I’d ever noticed in the mountains or Sydney.

And the water table is still saturated and will be for a while. And a 86mm storm to it …

And these aren’t big rivers out here. The Macquarie goes up and down really quickly.

The weather station is working again!

Feels like -1.7c.

yay spring …

We’ve just had a couple of days in a row above 35 and it’s been above 30 for about a week straight now.
Overnight temperature has been in the high teens.

Show off.

It sounds good but it’s playing havoc on the mud I’ve been cultivating for the last 12 months.

That doesn’t make any sense. Our game was on Saturday.

UK going through a cold snap. Plenty of snow where I live.

Which of course has led to people saying stuff like global warming can’t be real. Or "Where’s your global warming? " Really infuriating.

Good way to confirm the idiots you know though!

A cold snap in the middle of winter? I can see how this completely unforeseeable event might throw people out.

But it’s not the middle of winter.

It’s, like, not even 2 weeks into winter.

Dude.

Thankfully no-one I know.

Overheard this kind of conversation on the street. Plus numerous online comments. God help us!

I need to consult my farmers almanac for confirmation of the exact seasonal dates.

I once had someone tell me that it was hotter on earth millennia ago and somehow the dinosaurs managed to survive…

I would have liked to have been one of the first cavemen to catch & eat a pterodactyl. Could have lived off it for a month I reckon.
